At Pien Rotterdam’s atelier; I enjoyed very much making washi with the 8 paper art and craft professionals. Although A4 is a little small it has been a good start.
Today it was the first day of a two days washi workshop I ran at Tokyo Minatoku Eco Plaza for the 8th year in succession and it was really fun; today for elementary students and parents, tomorrow for adults.
Last Saturday we ran a workshop introduction to washi making and had a mini exhibition in Yusuhara (Kochi prefecture) at the 10th annual meeting of the “Kyodo no Mori” (forest partnership)organization. The architect Mr. Kengo Kuma was the main guest speaker.
Recent commission from “Cafe Osaka Chakai”, specialized in tea and pottery from west Japan.

This is a ceiling lamp made for a restaurant in Tokyo in last July; different kinds of washi , different fibers, thin and thick paper.
Drying traditional size ” Tosa seichoshi” ( 39 by 104 cm) on pine boards outdoors in the early autumn sun ; for the first time this new season.Now that the temperatures drop during the night but during the day still nice and warm.
