The message from traditional Japanese paper
Kamikoya is located almost in the navel of west Shikoku island, where it is not easily accessible. Therefore, I would like to start two blog series that tell the message from the traditional Japanese paper “Symbiosis of people and nature” that we value most.
The first one is a series called “Washi production and Nature”. The message is born from a deep relationship with nature through the manufacturing process. In this series, I will introduce how the process relates to nature in specific.
“Washi production and Nature : Water“
”Washi production and Nature : Sunshine”
The second one is titled “Washi production and Technique”, which focuses on simple techniques that are also being used in everyday life, such as cutting, pounding, and using fire in the paper making process. Introducing the wisdom that can transform a tree into paper.
”Washi production and Technique: Knives”
“Japanese paper making and Technique: Strain”
Fiber plants cultivation will not featured in these blog series because it is a more widespread theme as agriculture. I will update blogs to “cultivation” categories to show the grate techniques and relationship with nature of plant cultivation.
By the way, this blog is written by Yohei, the son Rogier. I hope we can enjoy and deepen the world of handmade paper with you!
